A free and confidential service in Wales for anyone affected by suicide

The National Advisory and Liaison Service (NALS) provides a free and confidential support service and is available to individuals and families of all ages who live in Wales and can be provided via phone, in person, or by video call.

Our specially trained team can offer a safe and empathetic space to talk and be heard. They will help you navigate the many and complex emotions felt after a suicide. The initial shock can be devastating and overwhelming but remember you are not alone.

Our team can support you in the days or weeks immediately following a suicide on in the months, or even years, after your loss. We can also support with practical things like the inquest, financial issues, the police or supporting others that you know have been affected. We can even help you to organise a funeral.

The impact of suicide reaches far and wide, affecting more than just immediate family. You can also access our service if you are a friend, colleague, neighbour or witness.

what is the process?

When you refer yourself to the National Advisory and Liaison Service, we will go through the following steps with you.

You can easily refer yourself into the service via our online form, our freephone number, or Email.

You will receive a call within 24 hours by one of our trained Liaison Officers.

Our Liaison Officer will complete a holistic assessment of what support you may need and they will put together a support plan with you.

Our Liaison Officer may refer you (with your consent) to other support services that would be beneficial in supporting you.

Our Liaison Officer will keep in touch regularly and support you for as long as you need.

If after support has finished you find in the future you need support again, you can always reconnect with your named liaison officer or the NALS service.
